Picture this...it's 3 am on a labor and delivery unit and you just got finished coaching a 300 lb woman to push a baby out for 2 hours. It's 3 am and the charge nurse says, why don't you do on your break now. okay! So you go to the break/conference room to rest on the tiniest couch every made and you finally get to rest your eyes and fall asleep. All of a student, you are startled into a fully awoken state by the loudest fart...ever. Was that me?? you ask. nope. it was the med student who's gazing at the patient board and who's back is facing you...about 6 feet away. Does he say anything? no. does he look around? no. Does he stand there in silence not acknowledging the massive fart that just exploded out of his butt? yes. in your mind, you think, oh no...the fart is traveling the 6 feet and right up your nose. So what do you do? Do you say something and possiby embarass the poor med student who is most likely hating life right now? Or do you pretend to stay asleep and wait till he leaves so you can leave the room and tell every person that crosses your path? yes. And....scene.
True story. It happened to me. It was a familiar smell though. It took me back to high school and having to walk into Tyler's room to wake him up after he had been sleeping for approximately 14-16 hours and facing the wrath of newly awoken older brother Tyler. The smell of boy and his stench. Gross.
